7 Terms From Star Wars That Don't Mean What...

Despite all the humans, English language, and proper British accents, it's important to remember that the Star Wars universe isn't our own. Things are different there – they have landspeeders, they order around protocol droids, and their language – although sounding similar – has words that we think we know, but really have no clue. These are 7 terms from Star Wars that don't mean what you think they mean.

7. "Sith" is a species.

The Sith are the bad-guy Force people. Everyone knows that! They're the anti-Jedi, lightning shooting, Darth-named weirdos who refuse to use anything other than red in their lightsabers. Except…well, they didn't start off as "the group of Dark Side Force-guys." They started off as a species unto themselves.

Basically, they were red-skinned humanoids with gross face-tentacles from the planet Korriban. They had a predisposition towards the Dark Side of the Force, but that wasn't what defined them. That happened once a group of human Dark Jedi happened upon the species and interbred with them for a couple thousand years. Eventually, the Sith species was pretty much bred out of existence, and Sith became synonymous with the evil, cloak-wearing dudes we know them as today.

Although, it probably would've been smart to try using any lightsaber color other than red if they wanted to not give away their allegiances immediate

6. "Blue Milk" is bantha milk.

Remember that gross blue milk Luke drinks on Tatooine? Well it gets even grosser – that milk is actually bantha milk, a.k.a. those huge, hairy, horned buffaloes the sand people are always riding on. Yes, someone actually squeezes udders (presumably under the bantha) and some disgusting blue milk shoots out and into a bucket. Since it seems SUBSTANTIALLY more dangerous to milk an elephant-sized bantha than your average cow, one would imagine blue milk would be more of an expensive or rare commodity than Luke treats it. Then again, we don't know if pasteurization exists in the Star Wars universe, so maybe Luke just knew that blue milk swimming with bacteria wasn't worth getting stomped on.

5. "Death Stick" is a hallucinogen

If you'll recall, "Death Sticks" were introduced in Attack of the Clones, when a Death Stick-guy offered a Death Stick to Obi-Wan – who, for whatever reason, declined the Death Stick. Reminder: in this universe, there is a product that people consciously use that is called "DEATH STICK." Regardless, you would probably assume they were preachy Star Wars stand-ins for cigarettes, since – ya know – "death stick" is literally a slang term for cigarettes. But you'd be wrong.

Death sticks are actually hallucinogens. And not just any hallucinogens! These hallucinogens actually reduce your lifespan every time you use one – shortening your life more and more with each successive stick of death. Even more weirdly, the death sticks natural state was a liquid that could be added to alcohol or injected straight into your veins. And even double-weirdly, they inhibited your connection with the Force.

So: reduces your lifespan, cuts you off from the Force, and is literally named "DEATH STICKS." Cigarettes don't look so bad now, do they MOM?

4. "Spice" is a variety of drugs.

We don't know much about Han Solo's smuggling career from the information provided in the films – we know he smuggles things, and that those things are probably illegal, and that a big desert slug is none too happy with his smuggling prowess, and that he would never ever be the first one to shoot another over a dispute involving smuggling. That's where the Expanded Universe of books, comics, and videogames comes in handy – filling in literally every possible corner of the Star Wars galaxy (remember that droid that Uncle Owen was gonna buy but it broke down? That was Skippy the Jedi Droid!). It turns out Han Solo was a big-time spice smuggler – but not the spice of making food taste better. Nope, it's similar to the sci-fi mind-expanding narcotic from the Dune series. That's right – spice is drugs. Which makes Han Solo a drug smuggler.

The variety of specific spice drugs runs the gamut from Giggledust (which makes everything seem funny) to Thruster Head (which caused extreme hallucinations). Han tended to smuggle the dirtier stuff for the Hutts, because he's a vaguely-menacing rogue who does whatever he needs to in order to survive and not a hyper-moral prince valiant who only shoots in self-defense.

3. "Wyrwulf" is a baby alien.

When you hear the term "wyrwulf," odds are you think it's the Star Wars equivalent of a werewolf (but spelled differently because they just haaave to be different). Except, it's totally not that. Nope, wyrwulves are six-legged wolves that are actually just baby aliens. See, once they reach puberty, they turn into a cocoon and emerge as a four-armed humanoid alien of the Codru-Ji species (that have almost no canine features, it should probably be noted because what the hell?). This all means that a fully-grown Codru-Ji's kid looks an awful lot like it's just the family dog. A reminder to Codru-Ji parents out there: don't confuse your dog with your child, unless you're cool with accidentally neutering Junior.

2. "Jizz" is a type of music.

Yes. "Jizz" is a genre of music in the Star Wars universe. Those who play Jizz are known as "Jizz-wailers." This is all real. Figran D'an and the Modal Nodes (the weird testicle-headed cantina band from A New Hope that has a name and it's Figran D'an and the Modal Nodes) play Jizz. The "doo doo doo da doo doo doo" cantina music is Jizz.

The term first appeared in the novelization of Return of the Jedi, written by James Khan, who must have had a nice laugh to himself by adding the term "jizz" into Star Wars canon as a predominant genre of music. George Lucas probably wouldn't have allowed this if he were paying attention at all, but he was pretty busy stroking his tiny beard and salivating as Ewok toy sales that year.

1. "Heyblibber" is a word that exists.

It's a type of Gungan underwater transport ship, instead of what it should mean: nothing, because 'heyblibber' is too dumb of a word to be real.

I don't know how much people here visit dorkly but I found this information funny and interesting so I decided to share!

Elementz Decides to Leave Curse Gaming

Curse Gaming has been playing incredibly well throughout the LCS but key losses to TSM and CLG in the past few weeks has removed the team from the top of the NA LCS pushing them to second place, now two losses behind TSM. Whether or not this drop has anything to do with the decision for Elementz to move on is neither here nor there, but one thing is for sure, both Curse as a team as well as Elementz as a player are both capable of top tier play.

The decision was apparently co-opted by Curse team manager Steve 'Liquid112' Arhancet. Both he and Elementz made statements about the decision (found at the linked article below). Both statements were very sincere albeit diplomatic.

Check out this article for more details and keep your eyes out for more details concerning the big decision.

What do you guys think of this change to Curse's roster? What other teams do you think would benefit from a player with the experience and skill of Elementz?

GGU penalized in their upcoming match Against TSM

GGU has broken this rule multiple times prior to the time that forced the hand of the LCS referees, which was against vulcan on day 2 of super week, therefore the LCS competition refs have issued a one-ban penalty against GGU in their Game Against TSM.

As to what this One-Ban penalty is, im ASSUMING that it means they can only ban out one champion, however this could mean that TSM gets 5 bans or GGU loses its chance to Ban out two champions against TSM, thats just my speculation.

Again i suppose we could view this incident as Riot Stepping up to the plate and following through with their rules regarding their professional scene of players, which is really nice to see them uphold their rules and whatnot.

what are your thoughts about this penalty since im pretty sure that this is the first time anything like it has occured in the LCS

Hai and LemonNation have both played on the previous Quantic team. The team aims to qualify for the LCS Summer Season after winning the Summer Promotion at MLG Dallas this month. They have plans on moving to a gaming house soon and "bootcamping" in preparation for LCS. Quantic Gaming will also be search for an AD carry as they recently lost WildTurtle, who is now the starter for TSM.

Statements

Hai "Hai" Lam - Captain and AP Mid for Quantic Gaming.LoL

"They offered me kittens as payment, how can I say no to that? Also I don't have to name change haha, anyway looking forward to working with Quantic again as we mesh pretty well! It'll be cool too because we get to move into a house and bootcamp before the LCS and hope for the best! Stay tuned for our new ADC!"

Bernie "Fujikura" Catalan - COO of Quantic Gaming

"I've been talking to Hai at Cloud 9 now for the better part of a month. I got a chance to meet up with them at MLG and Hai is really smart, too smart maybe! They are very professional and participated in an interview at my request, without being my players at the time. I really felt a positive vibe from them then. As the COO of Quantic I will strive to provide them the best opportunities for success.

I am, of course, talking about Vulcun and Counter Logic Gaming. We need not even go into detailed analysis to see how Vulcun is emerging as a strong team in the LCS. In fact, the only metric which CLG is currently outperforming Vulcun is in Win/Loss ratio. When it comes to KDA ratio and average GPM, Vulcan edges out 4th place CLG and and in average minions killed and average gold per match they are top of the pack. There are definitely other mitigating factors behind these metrics, but no matter how you slice it, Vulcan is performing extremely well despite being in a new environment with all the stresses that come with it while CLG is beginning to fall behind. Within the next few weeks I predict a major shift in the middle of the pack as Vulcan settles into their game.

Who really has the best record?

Of the top four teams, Curse has played the least games by far. However, they also have the most balanced schedule. They only have 14 games (four less than Dignitas and three less than TSM and CLG), but their matches have been evenly split between top four and bottom four teams. What really makes them stand out, in my opinion, is they have yet to be upset by a bottom four team, going 7-0 so far, and they have managed to maintain a 5-2 record against top four teams.

Dignitas and TSM, on the other hand, have maintained their positions by beating up primarily on the bottom teams. Each has ten wins against bottom four teams with only two and one loss respectively. What separates them is how well they have fared against top teams. Dignitas has played well on their way to 4-2, while TSM has struggled to a 2-4 record against those same top teams.

While CLG has hardly played like a top four NA team for much of the season, they are still clinging to that fourth spot. While their record against top teams looks similar to TSM at 2-5, their record against the bottom teams is significantly worse. Their inconsistencies have cost them as they are merely 6-4 against the bottom LCS teams.

What do you guys think? Is Dignitas as close to Curse’s level as they seem? Or would Curse have a commanding lead if they had as many games under their belt as the rest of the top teams? I say Curse would be dominating even more, but they may be due for an upset as well.

WildTurtle Replacing Chaox as Starter on TSM

http://www.newsoflegends.com/index.php/tsmwildturtle-6153/

After many hours of debate and much consideration, the management of SoloMid has decided to replace Chaox with WildTurtle on a
permanent basis. We are extremely grateful to Chaox for all he has contributed over the last two years and it is with a heavy heart that we bid him goodbye. The accomplishments TSM achieved with Chaox on the team will be remembered for as long as people play League of Legends. WildTurtle will be the AD carry for TSM from this week onwards. We are confident this change will be a positive one in the long run; TSM have their eyes firmly on the top of the podium.

Can the 'bottom 4' find their game?

The first few weeks of the LCS were fairly predictable. There were no overwhelming upsets, and the standings reflected the expected split between the top and bottom 4 teams. Naturally, this was attributed to a stark difference in skill level and team cohesion between the established teams and the newcomers. After the first few weeks of settling in, it seems the new teams are “coming into their own” as upsets are becoming more frequent. Vulcan took down Counter Logic Gaming in week 3, Team Marn blew minds as they took down TSM and CLG in ‘super week’, and now, after an amazing showing by last place Complexity, Team Dignitas’ winning streak has come to an end. “Dignity is Dead,” as CLG Doublelift so deftly put it.

So what does this mean for the rest of the LCS? The top teams are still the powerhouses and the bottom 4 are still underdogs. What can we expect from the so called ‘lower tier?’

After GGU lost in quick fashion to TSM in the first game of MLG Dallas, GGU’s NintendudeX tweeted, “we completely froze up at the tf pick” (sic.) and “Straight up got wrecked cuz we didnt play our game” (sic.).

During the upset win for Complexity we finally saw a break out performance from Lautemortis in the jungle. Stopping this from happening has been a focus for most teams, and they had been largely successful until now. Also, the team seemed to mesh much more cohesively, and that combined with their overall play perfectly. To put it succinctly, they played their game.

No one should underestimate the effects of a new environment on stress levels and performance. During the first few weeks the newer teams were dealing with the stress of trying to find a gaming house, living out of a hotel, an entirely new routine, new people, and a new life. The top tier teams must have felt this as well, but their experience gave them an advantage in coping with everything. Now that the initial pressures are waning, expect to see more upsets as teams try to overcome the obstacles to find some flow and “play their game.”

AZUBU Sponsors Two New Teams

On February 4th, Azubu Frost and their sister team Azubu Blaze decided not to renew their contracts with the AZUBU organization. The main reason for this decision was due to some disagreements regarding the organization`s up and coming streaming platform called AZUBU.TV. Since then the German based Games Media Company has been left without a League of Legends team.

On March 7th, AZUBU Europe AG announced the signing of the new teams it would be sponsoring, the Season 2 World Champions TPA (Taipei Assassins) and their sister team TPS (Taipei Snipers). AZUBU and TPA hosted a joining ceremony in Taiwan and made public announcements on both their Facebook pages.

From now on, TPA and TPS will represent the AZUBU organization and will wear Azubu incorporated logos at all major events. As for the names of the two teams, they will now be known as AZUBU TPA and AZUBU TPS.

AZUBU TPA and AZUBU TPS are scheduled to appear on air with gameplay of both individual and team practice via the newly launched AZUBU TV’s stream services. At the moment, AZUBU TV is operating 1080p high definition and the teams that use the new streaming service are CLG, SK and MYM.
