HAWKEN

With the release of the long-awaited Diablo III today, gamers now look forward to the release of the upcoming free-to-play game, HAWKEN. It has been officially announced that the publisher of the game, Meteor Entertainment, has teamed up with GaikaiInc. to bring HAWKEN to the company’s cloud platform. Gamers everywhere will be thrilled to learn that as a result of this partnership, you will be able to test HAWKEN on www.playhawken.com without having to wait the traditional download and installation time. You can even play the game on a tablet!

For those of you who are not acquainted with the game, HAWKEN is a free-to-play game of the mech genre, where players can fight with armored mechs in an environment that, with the help of gorgeous visuals, will prove to be enjoyable for everyone. While at PAX East, I was invited to the Hawken party. There, a few friends and I were able to play a round and speak with the producer, Jason Hughes.

From what I gathered from the experience, there are four classes of mechs that you can choose from. These include the Light Ranged class, Light Close, Medium Ranged, and Medium Close. Although it wasn't out yet, I hear there will be a Heavy class as well once the game launches this December. Of course, when it comes to the weapons, players can have both a primary and secondary weapon, both of which pack the appropriate punch. The game had a true authentic feel to it, between the mechs themselves and the various weapons. The graphics are so enthralling and the environments are downright gorgeous – I almost couldn’t believe that it was a free game!

Dirtnap Gaming MSI Battleground Champions!

Dirtnap Gaming recently participated in the MSI Battleground Tournament in Ventura, Ca. After some strong opposition, PawnGypsy and the guys found themselves in the finals, completely undefeated, with only Lil'Kev's team standing in their way from total victory. The team took the lead early and just continued to dominate. The team showed a truly dominate performance, and went untouched in this LAN.

League Scene News - TSM Expelled from IEM? Line...

The biggest buzz around the grapevine is that TSM has been disqualified from playing in IEM tournaments for the next year. It seems that NESL doesn't allow players to stream official NESL matches and because of that TSM has decided to quit their match and just continue streaming on their own respective channels.
