Loadout! Create, Customize, and KILL!

Weapons ranging from Exploding balls of electricity to Mouse bots chasing you to explode? YES PLEASE!

So for the few of us who had the privilege of going to PAX East this year, we got to experience something very unique, simple little game called Loadout! Now this game turned out to be our go to game of the convention as Smack had probably played over 30+ rounds of this game and Halfblud and I were frequent visitors to this booth as well.

Now, most will say hey this looks like another TF2 i can tell you it may look that way but it plays completely different. What makes this particular game so much fun is the ability to create some very interesting weapon combinations ranging from Scuttle Ammunition (where they chase where you Aim and explode) to Lasers, to Balls of electrical energy all depending on how you customized your weapon.

Here's a Short video that shows some of what I'm talking bout (also happens to be the Trailer)

Now there are few game-types planned but we got a chance to play both the Control Points and Team Deathmatch. Now TDM played how one would expect it too, however the fun involved was basically seeing how well your gun fared in actual combat. Is that decision for the 3 Barrel Missile Launcher working out for your play style? or are you getting worked by delayed Scatter-shot Electric Energy Shocks? How about Healing Beam next time or even Mini-Gun, the combinations for your gun set are PLENTIFUL and can truly make a difference in your playstyle as Smack and I both found out playing Control Points.

Now Control Points works like your typical King of the Hill type of game with 500 points awarded to the team who captures the point, standard race to 500. However as Smack and I both witnessed a 500 point tie game can be decided on just a single point. Honestly it was one of the most intense moments in a game that I've witnessed in quite some time. It took nearly 4 minutes of the game for the final control point to be captured, the teams were constantly going back and forth on the control point like an epic game of tug-o-war!

Smack and I both decided that if we were playing Control Points that we needed to change our play style to match the game-type. After messing around with a lot of gun customization options, I personally went with more of a shut down choke point approach using a Scatter-shot electric energy ammo. Shooting out balls of electricity over a wide area that when detonated sent out massive amounts of damage to incoming enemies. Unfortunately I can't recall what Smack ended up using but he was more of my pickoff guy as I was stuck using pretty much up-close and personal antics. But it paid off wonderfully and we Swept the other team 2500 - 0.

Overall, i can honestly say this game had such a simplistic yet elegant way on the approach to your gun customization that it truly showed in the overall gameplay and made the game an absolute BLAST to play! Easily my surprise Game of Show for PAX East!

I have to agree. This was easily the game that most surprised me. I literally played this game 40 times or more. I kept going back every 10 minutes all weekend. There even times where I just ignored other booths I was interested in because I wanted to play Loadout again. It was very convenient that it was right next to the Riot Booth so I spent a ridiculous amount of time playing the game. Dirt Nap will be supporting this game in full force upon its release and maybe even sooner.

Oh I see how it is. Just act like I wasn't even in the game lobbing triple missile blasts in to back you up and getting like 9 assists (the demo didn't keep track of assists xD)
