And end with a good-bye.

Hey DnG community!

I'm usually a man of words but today I'll keep it somewhat simple. Dirtnap Gaming Eternus, the official team of the DnG community, will be departing today. This departure shouldn't be taken in a negative light by any means. You guys are hands down the most supportive and friendly community in the League of Legends scene. Our players have enjoyed the game nights and community events, and most importantly, the fans on twitter, twitch chat, and everywhere else you go. We've learned from you guys and hopefully you've learned from us too.

THAT BEING SAID, due to the many roster changes we've gone through, post-LCS qualifier, our players felt that a new image was needed to portray us. In fact, we're only 40% the same roster that traveled to LA in January and represented this community. We've picked up some of the best players from other teams that didn't quite make it, and we're ready to make the push again in May to be LCS qualified. We won't be "Dirtnap Gaming's team" any more, but we'd still like to be Dirtnap Gaming's team.

We'll be re-branding as Velocity eSports for MLG Dallas and all upcoming events. We feel like this new image really embodies the hard work we've put in and the upward momentum we'll be taking to future events. We'll be putting forth the image as the hardest-working team in the league, whether or not we make to the LCS group on our second try.

For any DnG community members that are going to MLG Dallas, LET US KNOW IN THIS POST. We'll be doing meet and greets in Dallas, and the least we can do is thank you for your support; maybe we can hook you up with some Velocity swag. The last thing we want to do is alienate our most loyal fans. For those of you unable to attend MLG, we'll keep you in our hearts on the stage. And keep us in yours!

All our new info and pages can be found here:

Please follow us, like us, root for us, and keep being our super awesome fans! We'll still be close - the internet's a big place, but not too big :)

On behalf of the entire Dirtnap Gaming League of Legends roster,
Thanks again!

I'll still support you guys with whatever you do. Hope you guys can make it into the LCS. I'll be at MLG Dallas rooting for you guys. Hopefully we can hang out or something.

Eh, I likely won't continue to follow. Not that losing a singular fan will hurt you at all. Leaves a sour taste in your mouth when an entire community gets behind a team to push them forward, and cheer them on, only for the team to leave the community behind.

I greatly dislike the part where you say that this re branding reflects the hard work you have put in.  As if wearing DNG somehow did not reflect your hard work.

GL with Velocity Esports.

sooo let me get this straight, its the same DNG team that made it to LCS, but with a different name. so does that mean they are still DNG's Professional Team or not O.o

I like the Logo

No they are not our team anymore.  They disliked our logo, wanted us to pay for a gaming house and felt we were holding them back.

    • 2

LOL, seems pretty intense :)

My 2 cents?

I love branding, I love logos, I love ambition.

I also love community, support, connection.

I also believe that win-win solutions always exist if people co operate, have open minds, and work together.

I sense some politics and possibly hurt feelings involved, lol :)

I imagine that a vibrant community like DNG has tons of talent to draw from.

Either way... I wish everyone well, and success & happiness in all they do.

    • 2

No hurt feelings here.  Just disagreement in what was said.

Win-win situations exist...I don't care as long as I win. I see a trend in my opinion. It's just really quits after a big loss. They wanted you guys to pay for a gaming house? Really?

Dirtnap has plenty of pkmn to pick from.
No worries.

Hey wait...I'm pro at being adorable.

Whew....DN survives!!

:P

GL with your future endeavors!

Best of luck to the individuals that actually gave two craps about this community and didn't bash it at every chance they got, or didn't bother to put anything back in to it.  In both situations those people know who they are.  Sad that it came down to this, but as the saying goes... next man up!  There will be plenty of people who will be more than willing to play under the DNG tag and enjoy the opportunity they are given.

Good luck!

TBH I don't think I will be much of a fan anymore, seems like scumbag Velocity to me and I'm not sure how you actualy expect us to keep supporting you after you basicaly just turn around and say screw DNG.
    • 1

Yeah, definitely not a "Velocity eSports" fan. You guys wanted $4k a month from us? Right.

Best of luck fellas, hope ya make it to the big time.

i feel like there's a lot of misinformation being spread here!

from all of my personal talks with smack, he only wished us the best of luck and said keep in touch if we wanted to come back. until i read the comments on this post, i thought this was a completely amiable departure!

i understand not wanting to root for a team once they've left your organization/city/TV channel. if the denver nuggets left to maine, i probably wouldn't be a fan any more, so i can see where some of you are coming from. but, the denver nuggets wouldn't wish any ill will on me for becoming a fan of a different team; nor will we wish ill will on any of you!

thank you for your support during our time at dirtnapgaming!

I'll still support you guys with whatever you do. Hope you guys can make it into the LCS. I'll be at MLG Dallas rooting for you guys. Hopefully we can hang out or something.

make sure you find us on friday or saturday before we run out of shirts and i'll hook you up with a velocity tee!

we definitely don't want to imply that we're saying "screw DNG!" if any part of my post came across like that, please disregard it because it wasn't intentional

thanks for your support guys!

really?  I mean you used the  name to get you where you are..then you take off and switch names and drop the community that supported you for how long? before what very well could be the most important matches any of that team will play?  And you expect a warm farewell and all of us who sunk our time appreciation and some of us money in to you to just be ok with it?  Get real man

thanks for your support guys!

So just because smack is diplomatic/doesn't care/is fine with your betrayal/doesn't think its betrayal/whatever he thinks we are all supposed to feel the same way?
Smack may run DNG, may have created it. But we, the minions, the plebs, the newbish masses ARE DNG it's not smack you turned your back on so much as it was all of us, the fans, the people who watched your streams, rooted for you at tournaments. The people who tryied to get invested in you guys as OUR team, representing US on the world stage. Then after the work and support you got and just before you look to be in a really great spot to actualy make it in the big leagues you turn around and run off to create your own circle jerk.

Then you actualy expect us to still support you...

So is next level pvp paying that 4k a month for the gaming house? I see you guys have some huge support with 2 whole forum posts and 3 replies. Great move so far.

Well they are trying to become a top professional esports team. You cant expect people to "work" for free (ie They felt like they were not getting as much as they could have been). The dirtnap community may be able to support a team morally but currently theres no way we can financially. Even Lzuruha a team whom many of you guys have probably never heard of have more sponsors than us. Lzuruha is sponsored by steelseries, maxfrag, eoreality and partnered with twitch while we only have teamspeak.

bro they werent working for free...a lot of people within this community chipped in money for these guys... 4k a month for a gaming house when they cant even act like professionals in a sponsored invitational is kind of a lot to ask, let alone hold a solid roster together or treat the players on the team how they deserve to be treated (see jdwu).  Hoipefully this changes their tune a bit and they start giving back to the people who have poured so much in to them, but the track record says othersie. And the opportunities here are aplenty... like i said earlier there will be 5 other players who truly appreciate the opportunity they are being given and wont treat it this way.

Also, your new logo looks like a bad Shera headress ripoff.
    • 1

All I'm really seeing out of this is people saying they wanted money from "us".....who are you talking about? The team wasn't taking money out of your freaking pockets. So much crying going on in here......rumors and shit, why not just be mature for god's sake. Done.
